The headquarter hotel for the 2019 SID Annual Meeting is the Hilton Chicago. The hotel is a city landmark that overlooks Grant Park, Lake Michigan, and the Museum Campus (Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, and Adler Planetarium). It is the third-largest hotel in Chicago by number of guest rooms. Built in 1927 and owned by the Hilton family since 1945, the Hilton Chicago is pleased to be the venue for the 2019 Meeting.
The SID is excited to have chosen Chicago as the site of the 2019 SID Annual Meeting. Chicago is the 3rd largest city in the United States and 2nd most visited in the country. Incorporated as a city in 1837 and re-built after the Great Chicago Fire in 1871, the “Windy City” is home to two airports. O’Hare and Midway International Airports serve Chicago with direct flights to over 215 destinations in North America, South America, Asia, Africa, and Europe. The city is also the home to over 7,300 restaurants (7 AAA Diamond-rated and 26 Michelin-starred), 200 theaters, 26 miles of open beach access on Lake Michigan, seven professional sports teams, Michigan Avenue shopping, Millennium Park, and several of the tallest buildings in the US. Join us in Chicago in May 2019!
The Mission of the Society for Investigative Dermatology (SID) is to advance and promote scientific evidence relevant to skin health and disease through education and scholarly exchange of scientific information, with the intent to foster improvement in the competence (abilities, skills and strategies) of dermatology researchers and clinicians.
The 77th Annual Meeting of the SID is a forum in which a diverse community of scientists comes to exchange information on the latest advances. The Annual Meeting draws a diverse group of senior researchers and clinicians, as well as hundreds of clinical trainees including Dermatology residents. These healthcare professionals and basic researchers are on the frontline for recognizing systemic disease (including many types of cancer) with a skin-related association.
In addition, presentations represent a diversity of specialties and disciplines, including Dermatology, Oncology, Cell Biology, Genetics, Pathology, Immunology, and Inflammation (to name a few). The opportunity to interact with scientists who possess complementary knowledge, and present cutting edge therapies has produced countless productive collaborations over the decades. In addition to the direct scientific goals, elements of the meeting are designed for the training and career development of young investigators. There are many social opportunities that enable all attendees to engage in the collegiality that serves as the foundation of the Society.
