4/13/2022 UPDATE:
The SID had been notified by the Hyatt at the Oregon Convention Center that hotel rooms at the property for the Wednesday (5/18) and Thursday (5/19) are sold out. Rooms during these days may become available (if cancellations occur)…but it will be hit and miss. With this in mind, below are other hotel properties that are in within 15 minutes of the Convention Center that you can click on their links and book your hotel stay.
Hotel Eastlund (Located across the street from the Oregon Convention Center)
Hilton Portland Downtown (Those who attended in 2017, might remember the Hilton as one of the primary hotels for that meeting). Also, note that all attendees will be given complimentary Portland Max train passes for the week…which can facilitate easy travel between the Hilton and the Convention Center.
The Duniway Portland, a Hilton Hotel (This property is the sister hotel to the the Hilton Portland Downtown property and is located across the street from the Hilton). Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront (located in the downtown area, this property is closer to the river).

The Hyatt at the Oregon Convention Center is accepting room reservations for the 2022 SID Annual Meeting. Click here to be directed to the Reservation Page. You can also call the Hyatt directly at 971/222-1234. Be sure to mention group code G-SIDY to ensure the group rate. Please consider staying at the Hyatt property. Doing so allows the SID to meet contractual obligations with the Hyatt and also allows the SID to received reduced rental fee costs with the Oregon Convention Center (OCC) for use of their facility for the meeting. Dear Members, Past Meeting Attendees, and Scientific Community:
We are writing to let you know that we are aware of an email that may have been sent to you by a company called Expo Hotel Services regarding hotel room accommodations for the 2022 SID Annual Meeting. The SID does not sell our list of members or past meeting attendees to any entity and as such are unaware of how your contact information may have been obtained.
Large conferences and events often become targets for companies seeking to take advantage of the attendees. These third-party “pirate” companies create websites and email solicitations offering special discounted hotel rooms for other associations’ meetings. They use web domain names and email addresses that look similar to the official versions for the conference. Often, these discounted rooms do not exist. The primary objective of this solicitation is most likely to obtain your credit card information. A Google search of this company reveals unfavorable reviews, “scam” assessments, and no rating with the Better Business Bureau. A review of their cancellation policy shows it to be very unfair to the consumer and with this in mind, we highly recommend that you do not use their services.
The primary hotel for the 2022 Annual Meeting is the Hyatt Regency at the Oregon Convention Center and their reservations system is not yet available for accommodation bookings for our meeting.
The SID is still planning for an in-person meeting in Portland in May of 2022, and further details about both meeting and hotel registrations will be announced in the coming months.

The headquarter hotel for the 2022 SID Annual Meeting is the Hyatt Regency Portland at the Oregon Convention Center. The property opened in December 2019 and is located across the street from the meeting venue…The Oregon Convention Center (OCC). The Hyatt features over 600 rooms, an on-site restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, a 24-hour guest market, a fitness center, and is steps away from the Max rail line which can take you downtown in a matter of minutes.

The venue for the 2022 SID Annual Meeting is the Oregon Convention Center, which is the venue the 2017 SID Annual Meeting took place almost five years ago. Opening the 1990, the OCC is one of the largest event venues in the Pacific Northwest and one of 3 centers in North America to achieve LEED Platinum Certification.* The OCC recently completed a $40 million renovation and looks forward to hosting the SID next May.

*LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. It is a rating system that expresses how efficiently a building is designed and operated. In order to rate and rank a site, each structure is given a certain number of points based on its environmental impact. In every measured category, each structure is credited with points and compared to other buildings that act as reference points for the constructions.
In the areas of water efficiency, energy & atmosphere, materials & resources, indoor environmental quality, and sustainability, points are given on a 100 point scale. To achieve LEED Certified status requires 40 points; 50 points will put a site at the Silver level; between 60 and 79 points earn Gold certification; and buildings that reach a minimum of 80 points are awarded Platinum status.
